Tourism is one of the Australia's main industries. Many people visit the country to see go to the Great Barrier Reef and see the marine life there. Others visit the country to see the wildlife that is located in Australia's beaches and forests. It is rare that people can see animals like koala bears and kangaroos in other parts of the world. Anyone who wants to visit Australia must have a visa.
Step 1
Go to the Australian Electronic Travel Authority’s Web site (see Resources). Click on the “Apply for Visa” button on the top left of the page. A page with a lot of legal information will appear. Move your mouse to the end of the page and select “I Accept.”
Step 2
Enter the appropriate information into the form that opens on the next page. A visa applicant is required to enter information about his name, nationality, passport number and birthdate on this page. Fill the page out entirely and click “Next.”
Step 3
Enter the proper information into the form that appears in the next page. For example, if you are applying for a visitor visa, select “Visitor” in this window. Two boxes will appear and will ask the applicant “Are You Outside of Australia?” and “Are You Inside of Australia?”
Step 4
Click next to the box that asks “Are you Outside of Australia?” A person inside of Australia is not eligible to use this system to apply for a visa. Enter your e-mail address into the form and enter the information requested at the bottom of the page. The information entered in the bottom of the page must match the information provided in Step 2. Click on the “Next” button.
Step 5
Review the personal information listed on the next page to make sure it is accurate. After double-checking to make sure that everything is correct, click on the “Next” button. If any of the information listed is not correct, click on the “Back” button to fix it.
Step 6
Write down the reference number that will show up on the next page. This number will be useful because it will allow you to access information about your status during the application process. Click on the “Next” button.
Step 7
Click on the button that says “Submit” after the next page opens. A new form page will open that requests credit card information for the payment. Enter credit card information and select “Authorize Payment.” The payment is for $20 Australian.
